TINSAL-T2D stands for Targeting INflammation using SALsalate for Type 2 Diabetes. TINSAL-T2D is a multi-center research study funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to determine whether salicylates represent a new treatment option for patients with type 2 diabetes. This disease has become of increasing concern as rates of diagnosis rise along with the risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes—especially obesity.

TINSAL-T2D enrolled participants age 18-74 at 21 sites around the United States, and will follow them for 12 months. Enrollment began in October 2008 and finished in June 2010.
